Since I was on the topic of gay Tokio, I thought I'd go back in time and relive Gussan's forgotten past...haha sounds so dramatic.
Tomoya Baby should get a few tips from his proceeders. Once upon a time when Tokio was still called "Joshima Band," Yamaguchi Tatsuya and Kokubun Taichi did a drama called "Dousoukai" (I almost forgot...V6's Sakamoto was in it too!) Gussan claims to have done this drama out of desperation because he had no money at the time, but I still give him props (and Taichi and Sakamoto) for paving the road for all future gay roles for Johnnys guys. Alright, that was painfully corny...now for the fun stuff!! :D
A brief description of each character:
Gussan - played a bisexual high school hustler that falls in love with a "happily" married salaryman (played by Nishimura Kazuhiko). To summarize, he basically has a fling with the salaryman's wife (for money actually ), therefore starting the craziest love triangle imaginable (naturally which develops into something a lot more complicated than that, because everyone's in love with their sister's boyfriend's flavor of the week and whatnot).
Taichi - played Gussan's very gay friend and partner in crime. Develops mad crush on friend of Gussan's salaryman after being sexually harassed by him. He appears in a wedding gown in the final episode. 'Nuff said.
Sakamoto - although his total screen time is like 10 minutes long, he probably played the weirdest character of them all. He was the leader of some random gang of gay guys, that goes around raping guys that piss them off.

This drama was groundbreaking in the sense that it was the first Japanese drama to show such explicit gay scenes, but I'm not sure if portraying homosexuals as disturbed sex offenders is such a good thing. Don't shoot me! I got the lame subject heading straight from a geinou news headline.
This isn't anything as orgasmic as the "JunxNino" thing (that one's hard to beat), but apparently Nagase will play a gay guy in his new movie. Ok, so no big deal...but it gets better: the movie is Kudo Kankuro's next project, so it's gotta be worth a watch! I don't know much about the story, but ninki wakate kabuki star Nakamura Shichinosuke (he played the wussy emperor in The Last Samurai) will be Nagase's love interest. Nagase commented that "this experience will help him discover a new side to him." Uh huh, sure, ok...just start filming already!!
In related Tokio news, I saw a clip of Mabo doing a random striptease for Ikuta Toma in their new play. He was pouring water on himself as he shed his shirt and danced around the room. heh heh weirdo. Man, how I wish I had a picture of it, though! He had this cool fake tattoo too! Guess Mabo's trying for bad-ass Chip'n Dales now. |

I borrowed my friend's Johnnys DVDs. I haven't seen most of it yet, but I did see something interesting in the behind the scenes part.

Since when did Arashi's Ninomiya and Okada become so close? Maybe I'm just slow, but I would have never associated the two to be more than jimusho-mates. I present the following "Jun x Nino 4 Koma Manga" as evidence:

It's not only the above hug either, Nino can be seen resting his head on Okada's shoulder during the Johnnys sports event as well.

Yaaaaay I got my copy of the Kisarazu Cats Eye Nihon Series! It came with a Kisarazu Cat's tenugui (handkerchief kinda thing)!! haha They must be crazy if they think I'm going to use it. It's just another fun thing that is too mottainai to use, so it will end up collecting dust on my shelf for the rest of the year...but oh well!
The DVD is currently number one on the Oricon ranking. It's so nice to see that Kisarazu is getting the recognition that it deserves! Speaking of the Oricon ranking, the official website got a major makeover. It looks really cool now, but I had a hard time finding my way around it...haha
If anyone is planning to get this DVD, get the "initial press" version!! This one is actually worth the money! Besides the tenugui (I know you want it!), it comes with an extra disc with lots of behind the scenes documentaries and musical performances by the Cats. But the thing that really did it for me, was seeing Okada do his "human koi nobori" trick! It's hard to explain in words, but he basically grabs onto a pole with both hands and straightens his body horizontally so it looks like an actual koi nobori! I'm so bad at describing these things so you'll just have to see it for yourself! I had no idea he could do that...his skinny arms are a lot stronger than I imagined. I think he should do his trick more often and be known all throughout Japan as "Okada Junichi: The human koi nobori"!
Seeing the filming process was really awesome but Okada sure is quiet! In summary, Tsukamoto and Saito are always goofing off, Sakurai comes around once in awhile to make fun of them, Okada Yoshinori is sitting on the side smoking, and Okada is either sitting there quietly or totally off camera. It was really sweet how he got all choked up on the final day of filming though. I wanted to give him a big bear hug!!

Whoa, a whole month since I last posted! Shame on me... Well, school has been kicking my butt for the past couple weeks, so that's my excuse!
Just wanted to drop by and report about the awesome Doumoto Tsuyoshi Shoujiki Shindoi Special that was on last night. Shoujiki Shindoi is always entertaining, but it was especially good this time...it was a Johnnys special! The show's staff needed a break or something, so they put Tsuyoshi in charge of contacting guests and planning out the "date". Tsuyoshi used his magic "Johnnys connections" and managed to get all of V6, Tsubasa, Koichi, and the voices of Nagase and Taichi (over the phone) to make an appearance.
the highlights:
-Innochi showing up in a flashy host suit, not knowing that Tsuyoshi called him out to shoot a show.
-Tsuyoshi, Innochi, and Tsubasa all taking a bath together (unfortunately with skin-colored briefs under their tiny waist towels...)
-Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa hi-jacking and messing up V6's Music Station rehearsal.
-Innochi pissed off at Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa for disrupting their rehearsal.
-Tsuyoshi toying with Okada (almost making him get into a total stranger's car).
-OKADA SPEAKING IN FULL-ON KANSAI-BEN!!! (he still remembers how! horaay!)
-No one except for Okada showing up to Tsuyoshi's house party.
-Okada dissing Tsuyoshi's homemade curry.（It 冷めちゃった）
-Okada and Tsuyoshi going bowling, playing table tennis, and pool. (Okada sucks ass at bowling so Tsuyoshi won that match)
-Okada and Tsuyoshi playing with 地味な fireworks.
-Tsuyoshi role-playing as Okada's girlfriend and getting a blank stare in return.
Oh, one thing that bothered me was how Okada got a lot of beef from the other guys for カッコ付け-ing too much. Hmm I wonder if he's turning into the old "im too cool for school" version of Goro... I'm hoping that it won't take a tearful press conference for him to realize that it's perfectly OK to lighten up and act stupid. (One can learn a lot from Innochi, ya know!) But dang...Tsuyoshi and Okada chatting away in authentic Kansai-ben made up for it though! (I dunno...must be a fetish or something??)
Maybe I'll write a more detailed review later when my brain is awake...

I'm happy to see that a lot of people seem to be looking forward to the Johnny Depp x Shingo 対談. Sorry it's taking me so long to get it uploaded...been a little busy with schoolwork! x_x I've finished translating it but I still need to fix it up before I make it public (and embarrass myself). Since it's taking me a little longer than expected, I was able to find it in its original Japanese form on a website, so definitely check that out! "Gakkou E Ikou" was fairly amusing yesterday. I was thrilled to see Okada in all 3 segments of the episode, but the producers seem to be running dry of ideas. They decided to have a random "happy 25th birthday" project for Go and it was kinda "blah" except for the アカペラ singing, and Sakamoto trying to get Go into bed with him (getting a little daring there now aren't we?). Actually Go was a little slut in this episode, and at a point he actually had both Sakamoto AND Okada in his bed...although not at the same time. ehem Anyway, if you're interested in seeing a grumpy and underslept Go with bed-head, ぜひチェキラッチョ！
Oh and this is completely unrelated, but I just have to write about why I love my mom...haha I was chatting with her on MSN (yes, she made me teach her how >_< ) the other day and this is how it went:
me: Have you been watching any American TV lately?
Mom: un. kurai-ai miteru
me: huh? nani sore?
Mom: creare aie
me: .....
me: mom, do you mean "Queer Eye"?
Mom: sou! sore sore!! omoshiroi yo!
It's times like these when I really miss home! haha I'm sorta looking forward to going home in June now, so I can watch good 'ol "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" with my good 'ol Ma. I'm a bit disappointed in her because she couldn't spell "eye" correctly, though...lol...oh yeah, and then she asked me what "queer" meant.

Wow, Innochi is going back to high school! For some reason no one seems to care, but I say good for him!! Maybe this will encourage Okada to try college...he's probably too busy to be thinking about that at the moment, though.
Anyway, I recently found this old Junon magazine article from 1996 where 18-year-old Shingo, had this one-on-one interview with his idol, Johnny Depp. According to the article, Johnny also appeared on the old "Ai Love SMAP" show to wish Kimura Takuya (another Depp fan) happy birthday...lucky bastard! But seriously, wow. Two of the worlds hottest guys in one room...how in the hell did I miss that?? The whole article is really interesting so I'll translate it in my next entry. 楽しみにしててね！<3
